HC Deb 21 February 1967 vol 741 c243W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an assurance that the new scales of compensation payments to dispossesed agricultural tenants which he is now considering will not be chargeable either to Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax.

Mr. MacDermot

It is not envisaged that the additional compensation which as announced today by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food it is proposed shall be payable to tenant-farmers who are displaced from their land for non-agricultural purposes, will be taxable as income or chargeable to Capital Gains Tax.
