HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 cc96-7W
52. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many fishing trawlers were built in British yards in 1966; and how many of these qualified for financial grant.

Mr. Hoy

Nineteen, of which 16 qualified for grant.

53. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has had from the White Fish Authority about the two to one ratio for scrapping old fishing trawlers for new vessels; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hoy

The White Fish Authority has expressed the view that the necessary control over catching capacity should apply to the fleet as a whole. We take the view that it is fairer to apply it to individual applicants for grants.
