HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 c97W
58. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether, in view of the fact that imports of mutton and lamb rose by 9 per cent. in volume in 1966, and an additional cost of £8 million to United Kingdom balance of payments, he will now take steps to encourage home production and to limit the flow of imports.

Mr. Peart

The hon. Member is under a misapprehension. Imports in 1966 were in fact lower in both quantity and value.
