HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c479W
43. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what incentives he proposes to give for extra pay or National Insurance credits, to any prisoners who undertake successfully a required type of industrial training while in prison.

Mr. Taverne:

Prisoners' pay is already related to the skill they develop as a result of industrial training. It is my right hon. Friend's policy to ensure that more prisoners are offered incentives to earn higher pay through increased productivity.
