§ Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many officers and men will be serving on the submarine "Renown" when it is in operation; and what he now estimates will be the weekly cost of operating the submarine.
§ Mr. Foley:Thirteen officers and 131 men. The running cost of each submarine of this type in operation is estimated to be about £5 million per annum. The approximate weekly cost is therefore slightly less than £100,000.
