HC Deb 04 December 1967 vol 755 c239W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what were the gross and the net figures for 1966–67 for emigration from Scotland both to England and overseas; and if he will publish a table showing the figures for each of the past five years.

Mr. MacArthur

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the net migration loss from Scotland in 1966–67 to overseas countries, and to other parts of the United Kingdom, respectively.

Mr. Ross

It is not possible to provide reliable gross figures from the information available on migration. The estimated net figures are as follows:

Year ended 30th June Total To Rest of U.K. To Overseas Countries
1963 34,000 21,000 13,000
1964 41,000 24,000 17,000
1965 43,000 22,000 21,000
1966 47,000 22,000 25,000
1967 45,000 16,000 29,000
