HC Deb 21 November 1966 vol 736 cc224-5W
Sir W. Bromley-Davenport

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the total annual amount of the salary and entertainment and other allowances of the United Kingdom Permanent Representative at the United Nations; what is the total cost of the United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations, including the United Kingdom Mission to the European Offices of the United Nations; and how these figures compare with the average yearly amount over the period 1955–60.

Mrs. White

The total amount of the salary and entertainment and other allowances of the United Kingdom Permanent Representative at the United Nations is £15,413, compared with an average yearly sum of £16,848 over the period 1955–60.

The combined emoluments of the staff of the United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in New York, and in Geneva, for the current financial year total £390,000. This compares with an average yearly amount of £224,015 over the period 1955–60. For both periods other expenditure is not readily identifiable, and could not be obtained without disproportionate expenditure of time and effort.
