HC Deb 21 November 1966 vol 736 c239W
Mr. Higgins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he will give of the total value of gold coins sold as a result of S.I., 1966, No. 438.

Mr. MacDermot

No estimate can be given of total sales. The value of sales to the five members of the London gold market is in excess of £100,000.

Mr. Higgins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people have been prosecuted under S.I., 1966, No. 438, for not having handed in their gold coins.

Mr. MacDermot

None, but some reported cases are under investigation.
