HC Deb 15 November 1966 vol 736 cc57-8W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is his estimate of the total financial benefit to individual ratepayers in each local authority in England and Wales from the Rating Act 1965; and how this compares with the total financial benefit to individual ratepayers in each local authority in England and Wales from the Rating (Interim Relief) Act 1964.

Mr. MacColl

For England and Wales the total relief afforded to individual ratepayers in the first half of this year under the Rating Act, 1966 is estimated at rather over £7½ million, compared with about £0.2 million in two and a half years under the 1964 Act. My right hon. Friend will shortly be asking individual authorities for information about the outcome of the first rebate period.
