asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the cost for the most recent convenient 12-month period of surgical appliances supplied through hospitals in Scotland; and what were the corresponding figures for the previous three 12-monthly periods.

Mr. Ross

The estimated cost of supplying standard surgical appliances for which central contracts are arranged was £318,000 in 1965. The corresponding figures for 1962, 1963 and 1964 were £241,000, £260,000 and £295,000. Costs for other items are not readily available.
