HC Deb 02 November 1966 vol 735 c113W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is aware that the protection of British fishing grounds and fishing fleets in the North Sea from foreign encroachments continues to be inadequate; and if he will take steps to increase that protection by obtaining Royal Air Force supervision in addition to the protection vessels.

Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu

No, I believe that the Fishery Protection Squadron provides an excellent service. R.A.F. Shackleton aircraft help the Squadron by reporting any concentrations of foreign fishing vessels they spot in the course of normal training flights.
