§ Mr. DarlingThe C.o.I.D. applied to me for an increased grant in 1966–67 to finance a Design Centre in Cardiff: owing to the need for economy in Government expenditure this could not be approved. I am, of course, ready to consider proposals for extensions of the Council's activities, in the light of their expected contribution to the standard of industrial design, and also in relation to other Government measures designed to improve industrial efficiency generally.
