MallalieuThis scheme was announced to the Fleet both by formal Defence Council Instruction and by a special notice board display in all ships and shore establishments; and there was a good deal of publicity in the national Press.528W of the Armed Forces, of all ranks, who may not have been able to qualify for National Insurance retirement pension. There are about 37,500 retired officers and 110,000 pensioned warrant officers, ratings and other ranks at present under the qualifying age for these National Insurance pensions.
