§ Mr. RossIn 1964–65 the average weekly cost for in-patients in chronic sick hospitals (including geriatric hospitals) was £16 6s. 3d. and in acute hospitals with over fifty beds £32 11s. 8d. No separate costs are available for young chronic sick units. As regards contractual arrangements, the rates per patient week paid by regional hospital boards ranged from £3 7s. 6d. to £30 1s. 3d.
