HC Deb 29 July 1966 vol 732 c348W
Mr. Boston

asked the Minister of Labour what progress was made at the recent joint meeting with members of the Trades Union Congress and the Confederation of British Industries on ways of implementing the policy of equal pay for work of equal value; and if he will make a statement about that meeting.

Mr. Gunter

Economic circumstances must affect the timing of any action to implement equal pay, but in any event further discussion of the many problems involved is needed. At the meeting with the T.U.C. and C.B.I. on 18th July it was decided to consider in more detail the questions which arise in joint discussions at official level, with a view to a further meeting later on under my chairmanship.
