§ Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that consumer service contributions towards electricity connection have been increased by up to 180 per cent. between 1964 and 1966; and whether he will take steps, by legislation or otherwise, to assist the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board to reduce these contributions.
§ Mr. RossI understand that contributions by consumers for connection to the Board's distribution system have risen, along with the costs of connection, during the past two years, but that the increase varies from consumer to consumer. Any consumer may make representations to the Electricity Consultative Council about these charges, and I am not contemplating action which would reduce their general level.
