HC Deb 26 July 1966 vol 732 c254W
Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of Her Majesty's Government's policy, if he will introduce legislation to ensure that there will be no increase in taxi fares during the next 12 months in Scotland.

Mr. Ross

In most areas changes in taxi fares, which are fixed by local authorities, require confirmation by me, and any proposed increase will be considered in the light of the Government's declared policy on prices and incomes. For the rest I must ask the hon. Gentleman to await the Government's general proposals for implementing that policy.
