HC Deb 25 July 1966 vol 732 c196W
Mr. A. Boyle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the cut in overseas Government expenditure means cutting the cost of overseas programmes in foreign exchange; and whether the whole of the £100 million to be saved will be a foreign exchange saving.

Mr. Diamond

Some of the expenditure would have been in the sterling area. All the cuts will be reflected in the figures for outward transactions in the balance of payments, but there might be some offsetting factors elsewhere in the figures.
