§ Mrs. Joyce Butlerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why Mr. George Clark, who has been on hunger-strike in Parliament Square since 5th July as a protest against the war in Vietnam, was brought by police before the magistrate at Bow Street Magistrate's 170W Court at 3 p.m. on Friday 15th July for failure to submit to bail at 10 a.m. on that day, despite the fact that a medical certificate of his unfitness to plead through debility and exhaustion had been accepted on behalf of the court when the court opened at 10 a.m.
