asked the Minister of Aviation if he will give estimates of the numbers and percentages of design and research personnel who have left the British aircraft industry in the last year, six months and one month, respectively, and gone overseas, particularly to the United States of America.

As my predecessor stated in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Woking (Mr. Onslow) on 4th August, 1965, people who take up employment abroad are not required to provide information about their prospective work to a Government Department. Such indications as we have suggest that the number is not large in relation to the total number of design staff in the aircraft industry.
