HC Deb 21 December 1966 vol 738 c380W
Mr. Will Owen

asked the Minister of Health when he expects the extension to Ashington Hospital in the county of Northumberland to be completed; what additional services this will provide; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. K. Robinson

The scheme now in progress is expected to be completed early next year. It will provide a 120-bed general ward block and a 73-bed maternity unit, together with staff accommodation, a midwifery training school, laundry, stores, kitchen and dining room; and an extension to the out-patient department. A final scheme to complete the development of the hospital is planned to start in September next year.
