Mr. Brooksasked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what consultations he has had with the North-Western Regional Economic Planning Council about the efficacy of the shakeout of labour which is currently proceeding in that region; and what criteria he is using to measure such efficacy.
§ Mr. AlbuMy right hon. Friend is in touch with the Council about the changes of employment which are taking place in the region, especially their implications for long-term development. As regards the second part of the question, the efficacy of current policies in the North West Region—as in the rest of the country—must be judged by the criteria set out by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour on 24th October.
