HC Deb 04 May 1965 vol 711 c159W
Mr. Box

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will publish details of the various securities held by the Acquisition of Guaranteed Securities Fund, their current value and the annual income derived therefrom.

Mr. Redhead

The securities are promissory notes issued or guaranteed by overseas Governments and acquired under Section 3 of the Export Guarantees Act, 1949, as amended, for the purpose of rendering economic assistance to countries overseas. The number of notes held and the total annual income from interest on them vary as fresh notes are acquired and existing one redeemed.

But at 31st March, 1965, the total face value of notes held in the Fund was nearly £258 million and income from interest paid on notes was nearly £12 million in the year ending 31st March, 1965.
