HC Deb 02 March 1965 vol 707 cc226-7W
Mr. Raphael Tuck

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in view of the disproportionate increase in population of Hertfordshire, why when he is increasing the total allocation for minor works for the country by a considerable sum, he proposes to decease the allocation to Hertfordshire from £560,000 to £380,000 in the next year, a cut of about one-third.

Mr. Crosland

A change in the system makes comparisons of this nature misleading. Minor projects costing less than £2,000 will next year count against allocation whereas in recent years they have not done so. The allocation of £380,000 for Hertfordshire covering minor works of all kinds represents a fair share of the resources available.
