41. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, with a view to reducing tension between East and West, and having regard to Recommendation 389 of the Council of Europe, Her Majesty's Government will propose to the Council of Ministers that a joint conference of meteorologists of Eastern and Western Europe be called to consider and make suggestions for the progress of joint weather research.
§ Mr. George ThomsonNo. Adequate international arrangements already exist for the co-ordination of meteorological research under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organisation and the International Council of Scientific Unions. Additional arrangements for Europe are therefore unnecessary.
