HC Deb 22 June 1965 vol 714 c193W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will now make a statement about the further expansion of the Government training centres.

Mr. Gunter

Yes. I have now authorised a further expansion which will bring the number of training places up to about 8,000. Nearly half the new places will be provided by enlargement of existing Centres, in all parts of Great Britain, and the rest at new Centres, situated in Edinburgh, Northumberland, Manchester, Coventry, East Anglia and Sussex. These will be in addition to the two new Centres in Plymouth and the Medway Towns which I announced on 5th February, and will bring the total number of Government Training Centres up to 38.
