Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the total Government subsidy on council house building last year; and how much in the £ of all revenue from Government taxation this represented.

Mr. Mellish

Exchequer subsidies in respect of permanent dwellings provided by local authorities in Great Britain totalled £87.6 million in 1964–65. This represented nearly 3d. in the £ of all revenue from Government taxation.
