§ Q12. Sir C. Osborne
asked the Prime Minister, in view of the fact that the July returns show a slight increase in unemployment between June and July, which has happened only twice since the war, and that there is a danger of substantially bigger unemployment in the autumn, especially in the building and allied trades, what action will be taken to prevent unemployment becoming widespread and snowballing into other industries; and if he will make a statement.171W
§ The Prime Minister
Unemployment normally rises between July and the autumn for purely seasonal reasons. The underlying level of unemployment is now low and is likely to remain so.
