asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps are being taken to extend the mandate of the United Nations peace-keeping force in Cyprus; and what progress has been made by the United Nations Mediator.

Mr. George Thomson

The mandate of the United Nations Force in Cyprus does not expire until 26th March, and the question of its extension by the Security Council will not therefore arise until next month. The United Nations Mediator is continuing his search for an agreed solution of the Cyprus dispute but has not yet submitted a report.
