§ 66. Mr. Gordon Campbellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action is being taken in re-shaping allowances for the Diplomatic Service, following the proposals in Chapter 6 of the Report of the Plowden Committee.
§ Mr. George ThomsonApart from the recommendations on foreign allowances, the Plowden Committee's recommendations on other allowances in Chapter 6 of their Report were brought into effect from 1st April, 1964, subject to certain minor modifications. The new system of foreign allowances recommended by the Plowden Committee was introduced at all posts in Germany and some in Malaysia with effect from 1st April, and its use has since been progressively extended as other posts have been inspected.
