HC Deb 02 February 1965 vol 705 cc259-60W
26. Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what representations have been received by the National Parks Commission about Designation Order 196; whether these will cause delays before he approves the order; and if he will give an assurance that no time will be lost before he gives his decision, in view of the fact that five years have elapsed since the Commission published its first plans proposing the designation of the Sussex Downs as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Mr. MacColl

I understand that the National Parks Commission have received representations about their proposals from some 35 different authorities, firms and individuals. Some have asked that the designated area should be extended, others that it should be reduced. The Commission must consider all these representations before submitting an order to my right hon. Friend but when they do so he will come to a decision as quickly as possible.
