HC Deb 04 August 1965 vol 717 c366W
Mr. Beaney

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will state for 1962–63, or the latest convenient date, the number of persons in receipt of earned incomes in the ranges £20,000 and over, £50,000, £75,000 and £100,000 and over.

Mr. MacDermot

Assessments to Surtax for 1962–63 made up to 30th June, 1964, show the following:

Range of Earned Income Numbers
£20,000-£50,000 777
£50,000-£75,000 45
£75,000-£100,000 and over 19
Total 841

Separate figures are not given for the top two ranges because it is not the practice to disclose information about small groups of taxpayers.
