HC Deb 04 August 1965 vol 717 c366W
Mr. Molloy

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about repayment of Her Majesty's Government's debt to the Bank of Ireland.

Mr. MacDermot

At the request of the Bank of Ireland and under the provisions of the Bankers (Ireland) Act, 1845, the Treasury are repaying to the Bank a loan amounting to £2,630,769 4s. 8d. The loan arises from an Act of 1782 by which the Bank of Ireland was established and from the loan to the Treasury of certain later subscriptions to the capital of the Bank.
