§ 81. Captain Orrasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will exempt Northern Ireland from his restrictions on public capital expenditure and from the operations of the proposed licensing control.
§ Mr. CallaghanI would think it right that Northern Ireland should be exempt to the same extent as the development districts in Great Britain, and I understand that the Northern Ireland Government whose responsibility this is share this view. The provision to exempt development districts from licensing control will also be relevant to Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. Stratton Millsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent Northern Ireland will be exempt from his measures of 27th July.
§ Mr. CallaghanI would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave today to the hon. Member for Down, South (Captain Orr).
§ Mr. Stratton Millsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the effect of his measures of 27th July on the public sector expenditure proposals contained in the Wilson Report on Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. CallaghanI understand that progress towards implementation of the Wilson Report on Northern Ireland will not be affected by the measures I announced on 27th July.
