56. Mr. Fisher

asked the Minister of Transport if he will extend the dual carriageway throughout the length of the Kingston By-pass in order to reduce the number of accidents on this dangerous stretch of road.

Mr. Tom Fraser

Extension of the dual carriageway from just north of the mainline Railway Bridge to Burlington Road started in February. We hope to start on the adjoining stretch northwards to Coombe Lane within the next twelve months.

Plans for the section west of Woodstock Lane are dependent on decisions yet to be reached concerning the proposed Esher By-pass.
