§ 38. Mrs. Cullenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make special provision for accommodating children under 16 who are at present remanded to prison under a certificate of unruliness.
§ Mrs. HartIn the West of Scotland, boys already go to the demand units at Polmont, and Longriggend; and in future 197W boys remanded to Edinburgh and Perth prisons will be accommodated in the new hospital units at Edinburgh Young Offenders Institution and Perth prison, and girls will be accommodated in the Young Offenders Institution at Greenock, which is nearing completion. Under these new arrangements it will be possible to provide a more flexible and appropriate routine for these children, and to separate them more completely from the rest of the prison population. The numbers involved are small. The statistics for 1964 are as follows:
