§ 32. Mr. Swinglerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his present estimate of the shortage of child care officers; how many potential child care officers are under training; and when their allowances and conditions of training were last reviewed by his department.
§ Miss PikeOn 31st January, 1964, there were 237 vacancies in a total child care officer establishment of 1,980. 232 students are at present under training, including about 60 serving child care officers. The child care student grant scheme was fully reviewed last year.
