§ 36. Sir B. Jannerasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the fact that, as stated in a Report of the Depart- 22W ment of Scientific and Industrial Research, sulphur dioxide release to atmosphere has risen by 23 per cent. although smoke emission has been reduced by 35 per cent., he will institute an inquiry into the effects of such sulphur fumes on health, having regard to the increase in lung cancer and bronchitis and other chest ailments.
