asked the Lord President of the Council and Minister for Science what machinery he intends to set up to maintain consultation with the Secretary of State for Scotland on Scottish university matters, as suggested in paragraph 789 of the Robbins Report.

The existing arrangements for consultation with the Secretary of State for Scotland operate satisfactorily. These will be continued, as the Robbins Report envisages, and will be adapted or extended in the light of experience.
