HC Deb 03 February 1964 vol 688 c106W
31. Mr. Wade

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what agreement has been reached with the other members of Western European Union on British participation in future talks on European political union; and whether he will make a statement on the recent talks in Western European Union.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The Council of Western European Union met in London on 23rd and 24th January. We had a valuable exchange of views on political and economic questions of interest to our seven Governments. I took the opportunity at this meeting to remind the Governments of the Six of our desire to take part in any further talks on European political union.
