HC Deb 10 December 1964 vol 703 cc220-1W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the President of the Board of Trade what are the plans of Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom for an approach to other Commonwealth Governments for the negotiation of long-term contracts and commodity agreements; and what progress has been made with the setting up of a Commonwealth Exports Council.

Mr. Redhead

The contribution which long-term contracts might make to the expansion of trade between the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries will be one of the matters to be explored with them as opportunity offers.

Good progress has been made by the Chairman of the Commonwealth Exports Council in working out detailed arrangements and we hope to be able to make a full announcement soon.
