§ 53. Mr. Malcolm MacMillanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to assist the Forestry Commission to acquire its minimum necessary reserve of 250,000 acres of land in Scotland to enable it to carry out its national planting programme, its forest produce marketing programme, its development of wood-using industry, its supplies to the Fort William pulp mill, and its aim of providing rural employment and aiding social development and open air recreation.
§ Mr. NobleI can see no reason for exceptional measures to enable the Commission to acquire sufficient land to carry out the planting programme which they have been asked to undertake or to carry out the policy announced by Ministers on 24th July, 1963.
