HL Deb 23 April 1964 vol 257 c882WA
LORD WAKEFIELD OF KENDAL

asked Her Majesty's Government:

To what extent, if any, it is the practice, in connection with the construction of Government buildings, to observe or to waive the current building regulations; and whether it is intended to abandon the practice of waiving the use of these regulations in connection with Government buildings when the new regulations come into force.

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE ROYAL NAVY (EARL JELLICOE)

The Crown is not bound by the building by-laws made by local authorities, but building projects undertaken by the Government would normally comply with these requirements and it is the intention that the practice should continue.
