HC Deb 21 April 1964 vol 693 c157W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Postmaster-General to what extent contracts have been awarded under the reservation clauses for exchange equipment to companies owned or controlled in whole or in part by companies already receiving contracts under the main bulk supply agreement; and what are the names of such companies and their subsidiary or controlled companies.

Mr. Mawby

Three of the firms to which contracts were awarded in 1963–64, under the reservation clause of the bulk supply agreement for exchange equipment, are associated with companies which are parties to the agreement. The firms are:

Speke Telephones Ltd., which is part of the same group of companies (Plessey) as Automatic Telephone & Electric Co. Ltd., and Ericsson Telephones Ltd.

Kolster-Brandes (N. Ireland) Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Standard Telephones and Cables Ltd.

Telephone Manufacturing Co. Ltd., in which each of the agreement firms has a small shareholding.
