74. Mr. Driberg

asked the Postmaster-General by what date the Post Office Tower, London, W.1, will be complete and the restaurant at the top of it open to the public; how many customers this restaurant will accommodate; who is to be responsible for the catering; and whether a viewing platform or other facilities at the top of the tower will be available for tourists, school parties and others who are not restaurant customers.

Building work on the Tower should be completed by the middle of 1964 and the first micro wave system will be working before the end of 1964. The restaurant, seating about 100, will be run by Messrs. Butlins Ltd. There will in addition be three viewing floors for the general public. The restaurant and viewing floors will be opened at theend of 1965 as soon as the high speed public lifts are installed.
