asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science how many inquiries have been received by the Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory at East Kilbride on new methods of extruding unheated metal by the application of high fluid pressures from Scottish firms, from United States subsidiaries operating in Scotland, from English firms, and from United States firms.

The National Engineering Laboratory at East Kilbride has received written inquiries concerning new methods of extruding unheated metals by the application of high fluid pressures from seven Scottish firms, one United States subsidiary operating in Scotland, 170 English firms, and 45 United States firms. No record has been kept of the number of oral inquiries made by visitors to the Laboratory.
