HC Deb 04 March 1963 vol 673 cc8-9W
Mr. Boyden

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he will make a statement on the steps taken to overcome the administrative obstacles to the quick commencement of work since 9th January.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

I presume that this Question refers to my noble Friend's responsibilities for the North-East. My noble Friend is assisted by a team of officials drawn from all the Departments concerned one of whose main tasks it is to facilitate whatever administrative action is required, both as regards coordination between and within the Departments and business between central government and local bodies. Arrangements for the further strengthening of local contacts by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government will be announced shortly. If the hon. Member has any particular cases in mind, my noble Friend will be grateful to have them drawn to his attention.
