§ 52. Mr. Harold Daviesasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will now appoint a body to investigate the legislation relating to pneumoconiosis and other dust diseases, in order to remove the present anomalies in the assessment of benefit.
§ Mr. N. MacphersonNo. I am not aware of anomalies in the assessment of benefit such as to require consideration by such a body.
§ 54. Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will give instructions for a statistical sample to be taken of the number of widows' applications for pneumoconiosis benefit which have been rejected in cases where the husband drew pneumoconiosis benefit in his lifetime and the cause of his death was certified as coronary thrombosis.
§ Mr. N. MacphersonI take it that the hon. Member is referring to industrial death benefit. I am doubtful whether any useful purpose would be served by this kind of inquiry.
