HC Deb 24 July 1963 vol 681 cc178-9W
78. Mr. Spriggs

asked the Minister of Labour what was the number of registered disabled unemployed people in the United Kingdom and St. Helens, Lancashire, respectively, at the latest convenient date; what special steps are being taken to find jobs for these disabled men and women; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hare

On 10th June, 1963, 58,307 registered disabled persons were unemployed in Great Britain and 344 in St. Helens, Lancashire. My disablement resettlement officers do all they can to find employment for disabled persons by submitting them to suitable notified vacancies and by making special approaches to employers.
