HC Deb 24 July 1963 vol 681 c179W
79. Mr. Grimond

asked the Minister of Labour how many men have emigrated from Scotland owing to lack of employment during the last 12 months, or any similar convenient period.

Mr. Hare

In the twelve months ending in mid-1962 about 32,000 male employees moved from Scotland to other parts of Great Britain and 21,000 moved to Scotland from elsewhere. I am not able to estimate the extent to which a lack of employment contributed to this movement.
